dish this

This is not the first time this bookshelf turned dish hutch has made an online debut, but I love the idea so much that I wanted to share it one more time. I have a "thing" for dishes and couldn't bear placing them behind plain old cupboard doors. This piece was sold as a children's bookshelf for $59.00 at IKEA but has never stored anything but dishes. I owe my love for dishes to my mother who seems to have the perfect set for every occasion.

I seriously don't know how you do it. You're house is darling and I would never ever think to use a bookshelf for dishes. I love the idea and I think how you have it set up is adorable. Thanks for sharing! I may copy you if I ever have enough dishes to do something that cute with!

I'm love this idea. I'm working on re-painting an old bookshelf for this very purpose!

So darling! But, I have to say, my first thought was of little hands pulling things down and crashing them on the floor. . . . such is my life. :)

Hello! I found you through StephModo and I am so excited! My husband and I watched you...and hoped for you...on the Food Network and we watched you a few weeks ago where you were racing in New York. I am so glad that you have a blog and I look forward to reading more about you!

Such a perfect idea...and IKEA is the best. I miss it since we moved from Utah.

I have an old bookcase in the garage that we were just going to give away - now I'm going to keep it, paint it, and fill it with my display-worthy dishes. Thanks for the great idea!

I love barrister bookcases for dishses or anything else (even books...). You get the display benefit, but the glass keeps the dust down.
