This award winning ingredient has saved dinner time in our humble home (apartment) on more than one occasion over the past couple of weeks. This is the best product I have ever tasted from a can and makes the most delicious pinch-hit tomato sauce that I've ever tasted. Would you like a recipe? Well here you go.
Pinch-Hit "Homemade" Tomato Sauce
Yield: 6 servings
Ingredients
1 | TBS olive |
1 | medium onion, diced (1/2 cup) |
2 | cloves garlic, finely chopped |
1 | can (28 oz) Muir Glen organic crushed tomatoes, undrained |
1 | tablespoon chopped fresh basil |
1/2 | teaspoon chopped fresh oregano leaves or 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano leaves |
1/4 | teaspoon coarse (kosher) salt |
1/4 | teaspoon pepper |
Directions
1. | In 3-quart saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion, and garlic; cook about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender. Stir in remaining ingredients. |
2. | Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15 minutes. |
3. | Serve over cooked pasta as desired. (If you really want to jazz things up...add 1/4 cup heavy cream to make a perfectly pink creamy tomato sauce) |
